Wineglass Bay Guide: Lookout Walk, Beach, Freycinet & Best Visit Options

Option 1: Wineglass Bay Lookout

The official lookout walk is 2.6 km return and usually takes 1–1.5 hours. It is Grade 3, with steps and steep sections. This is the best choice for visitors who want the classic elevated view without committing to a longer hike.

Option 2: Continue to Wineglass Bay Beach

Walking down to the beach turns the visit into a more substantial outing. Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service lists the Wineglass Bay walk at about 6 km return and 2.5–3.5 hours. Remember that the descent has to be climbed again.

Option 3: Longer circuit

Experienced walkers with enough time can choose the Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach circuit, officially listed as 11 km and 4–5 hours, Grade 4. This is a different day from a simple lookout visit.
